Rye & Camber Sands

LOGISTICS: Trains from London Kings Cross (via Stratford) to Ashford International. Then change to train for Rye. This train connection can be very crowded on warm weekend days because 8-12 carriage trains from London to Ashford connect to a 3-4 carriage train to Rye.On our most recent trip we did Rye & Camber Sands as…

Hastings & 1066 Country

Hastings offers a nice mix of beach, history, culture and shopping, making it a great destination for a long (or short) weekend break,

Historic Rochester

Historic Rochester, with its Norman castle and stunning cathedral was a home and inspiration to Charles Dickens. Take a wander through the historic town, follow in Dickens footsteps or visit for the yearly Dickensian Christmas festival.

Riverhill Himalayan Gardens

A lovely garden with a mix of formal gardens and woodland, just a few minutes outside of Sevenoaks. Great adventure playground on site and a toy shed next to the cafe allows the adults to enjoy a drink/meal in peace,

Lullingstone Castle & The World Garden

The area around Eynsford has loads of fun things to offer. We spent our day out apple picking at Castle Farm and exploring the gorgeous World Garden at Lullingstone Castle.

Whitstable

What Whitstable lacks in child-focused entertainment (but who needs that anyway when there is a shingle beach!), it makes up for with brilliant food, lovely views and an adorable high street.

Ramsgate

Spend a date wandering along the stone piers of the Royal Harbour, admiring sailboats and yachts and enjoy a nice stretch of fairly quiet sandy beach.

1066 Battle of Hastings

Learn about a significant moment in English History while the kids get to run through fields, explore abbey ruins and play on a brilliant, shady playground. Perfect stopover on the way to Hastings or as a day trip from London.

Mayfield Lavender Fields

Mayfield Lavender makes for a fun, sensory summer day out and is guaranteed to deliver some great family photos. I highly recommend to visit on a weekday as it can get horribly busy during the weekend.

Ightham Mote

A lovely day out in the Kent countryside with a 14th century manor house to explore and plenty of opportunities to play, run around and explore for the kids. The stream is perfect for water play on a hot day.
